Meet Our Board: Annie Cimack
Annie Cimack is a student at Brown University studying Computer Science. She views Computer Science as a tool used to improve the lives of others, and that same progress is exactly what excites her about the important work APIA Vote-MI does. This past election cycle, she was motivated to start volunteering with the Voter Empowerment Project, a group that supports voter advocacy groups and introduced her to APIA Vote-MI. Annie provided technical and communications support to APIA Vote-MI throughout the election season. She has also interned at the International House of Rhode Island as a Communications Assistant where she was able to contribute to a multi-national, home-away-from-home environment for visiting grad students and their families. Her work involved sitting in on introductory English classes, creating social media content, and coordinating a system for ESL teachers to share resources.
In addition to Computer Science, she enjoys studying history, politics, and film. When at university, she volunteers as an outreach worker with the student group Housing Opportunities for People Everywhere (HOPE), plays saxophone in the university band, and writes for the satire newspaper. She grew up in Mount Prospect, Illinois, a northwestern suburb of Chicago.
