- Posting on APIA VOTE MI’s platforms regularly with timely, engaging content that reflects the tone and goals of the organization
- Writing posts that are accurate, clear, concise, and tonally appropriate
- Researching, drafting, and sourcing pertinent information for Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram posts
- Maintain APIA VOTE MI Website
- Send out monthly newsletters
- Staying on top of the daily news cycle and Asian American issues to make sure APIA VOTE MI’s posts are relevant and fresh across all social media platforms

The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors and staff to further develop and implement the mission and the strategic plan of the organization. Leadership and Management
- Actively engage and energize volunteers, board members, event committees, staff, partnering organizations and funders.
- Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors; serve as ex-officio of each committee; build board involvement with strategic direction.
- Hire, train and retain staff; recruit and manage consultants to meet organizational needs.
- Lead, coach, develop and retrain APIAVote-MI staff, youth, and consultants to ensure programmatic effectiveness and success.
- Develop a strong operational plan that includes robust programming and S.M.A.R.T goals.
- Lead and participate in the organization’s strategic leadership plan
- Communicate effectively to board, funders, and other constituents, all information necessary.
- Monitor and manage organizational fiscal vitality and work within the approved budget to ensure maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
- Implement and meet all requirements of grants obtained by and for the organization including, but not limited to, any and all financial record keeping requirements, execution of the programs and delivering the necessary quantitative and qualitative results supporting the goals of such grants.
- Establish and implement evaluation plan including development of metrics and outcomes; integrate community participatory evaluation methods when possible.
- Ensure design and implementation of innovative programming that advances the mission of APIAVote-Michigan.
- Effectively manage and administer day-to-day operations of the organization to ensure compliance with all non-profit legal and financial compliance.
- Develop, manage and monitor organization’s fundraising plan, including prospecting and maintaining relationships with funders (private, corporate, and federal) with the goal of expanding revenue through various means; develop and maintain budgets that are in compliance with funding streams and complete reporting documents from our funders.
- Develop a grassroots fundraising strategy that builds a strong individual donor base and volunteer network.
- Deepen and refine all aspects of communications – from web presence to external relationships with the goal of creating a stronger presence and brand.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the organization by interfacing with mainstream and ethnic media and by representing our organization at local and national events.
- Enhance APIAVote-MI’s image by being active and visible in the community, using external presence and relationships to network and garner new opportunities.
- Participate in and lead task forces, collaboratives, national convenings, committees, and community events to advance APIAVote-MI’s mission and policy priorities.
- Monitor and respond to local and national advocacy actions that pertain to the APIA community and/or APIAVote-MI’s policy interest areas.
- Facilitate and coordinate with national, state, and local APIA community organizations to implement plans to respond to local and national advocacy actions that pertain to the APIA community and/or APIAVote-MI’s policy interest areas.
- Lead the Asian American Engagement Coalition in design and implementation of policy campaigns that advance the coalition’s shared agenda.
- Provide quarterly educational reports to the Asian Pacific American Legislative Caucus on Asian American needs and contributions.
- Partner with the Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission on strategic initiatives that advance both organizational missions.
- Track record of successful fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders through donor appeals, grant writing, and events.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; facilitation; and interpersonal, conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and diversity, particularly through a lens of racial equity and transformative justice.
- Experience leading grassroots, community-organizing activities involving civic engagement (i.e. voter registration, GOTV, social issues, etc.)
- Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach, manage, and develop high-performing teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.
- Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed and applicant must have reliable transportation; some travel is required.
- Basic understanding of 501c(3) corporate structure and requirements.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required; Masters degree in relevant field (Social Work, Public Policy, etc.) preferred.
- Experience working with the Southeast Michigan APIA community preferred.
- Fluency in one or more Asian languages preferred.
- Salary commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position with an immediate opening.

Canvassers
APIAVote-Michigan is a 501(c)3 nonpartisan organization committed to justice and equity for the Asian American community through grassroots mobilization, civic engagement, leadership development, and coalition building. APIAVote-Michigan is looking for part-time canvassers to speak to voters during the November 2018 election cycle. Potential canvassers must be fearless – willing to communicate with people, have an understanding of the Asian American Community, and must be interested in increasing voter turnout in the APIA community Organizers . Canvassing will take place in Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne County. Potential canvassers will receive vigorous training on how to communicate with and persuade potential voters and GOTV operations.

Community Organizer
Interested in learning how to organize? Passionate about building a stronger Asian Pacific Islander American voice in Michigan from the ground up? APIAVote-MI is hiring part-time new organizers. Organizers will receive training before engaging in APIAVote-MI’s campaigns on the ground.
